Translation of statements (from left to right):

PICTURE 1
Artist floats in the sphere of earth's gravitation.
Artist creates.
Artist draws and his hand is calm.
Artist is a painter, a poet.

PICTURE 2
Artist has a crazy soul.
Artist is somebody who likes to draw.
Artist is a hypocrite.
Artist has vivid imagination.

PICTURE 3
Artist is a person who creates something artificially.
Artist is working on something he likes.
Artist is a person with lots of knowledge and good perception.
Artist is a shaman.

PICTURE 4
Artist is a bluffer.
Artist has talent.
Artist is a person who's soul is free.
Artist does something.

It is a group work, made together with Vesna Bukovec and Metka Zupaniè.

In this work we combine portraits of ourselves and our artist friends with statements / answers on the question: "Artist is?". Answers came from random people asked on the street to respond to the question.

The statements are mostly clichés about artists. They reveal the common understanding of artist and his/her role. The portraits of young artists that we used are not exactly typical images of artist.

By combining photos of "normal" looking people who could be anybody with cliché statements we had collected, we show the gap between people's perception and the reality of cotemporary art and artists.
