The tradition of making paper kites goes back for at
least 2500 years in the history of China, from where it was also extended
in to other cultures.
I made a flying kite with an image of me on it, blowing a chewing gum
bubble. It speaks about the joy, which is present in the act of flying
a kite. It also speaks about the gaze to wards the sky, which offers contemplation
for different desires and relaxed meditation, which is always accessible
even through we hardly ever find the time for the simplest things that
help us find our place and balance within the natural system and inside
us.
Or, like Ilya Kabakov says in his work Looking up-Reading the Words “laying
in the grass and looking into the sky is maybe the best thing, that will
you do in your life”.
