Zupaniè, made for the "Parallel" exhibition in Empire Gallery,
Nottingham.
We connected the the cliché of an English garden with the story of
Alice in Wonderland. For us they both are very magical and typically
English. In our installation viewers can see the garden only through
a peep hole in the wall of the gallery; presenting an experience which
is very unreal and untouchable. We try to show a surrealistic situation
by putting short extratcts from Alice in Wonderland on botanical signs.
The signs, only readable by binoculars, point out the moment of frustration,
which is present when you see but cannot reach the desired object.
